Principal Facilitator
Movements are only as strong as their capacity to understand power, hold complexity, and stay in relationship through conflict. Rooted Pathways offers political education that helps organizations, congregations, schools, and movement spaces do exactly that.
Our sessions blend popular education, restorative practice, Jewish ritual/values and embodied learning. Participants don’t just receive information. They analyze their own conditions, wrestle with hard questions together, and leave with shared language, practical tools for action, and a full heart.
Areas of Expertise
Restorative Justice
Restorative justice is more than a disciplinary alternative. It is a way of building community, repairing harm, and practicing accountability without disposability. Grounded in years of practice in NYC public schools and abolitionist organizing, Shoshana introduces circle practice, explores the roots of punishment culture, and helps groups build their own structures for repair.
Antisemitism
Antisemitism is real, it is dangerous, and it is too often misused or weaponized. Shoshana helps participants understand how antisemitism functions as a tool of power, distinguish antisemitism from criticism of Israel and anti-Zionism, and build solidarity that refuses to trade one community’s safety for another’s. Offered in Jewish, Christian, interfaith, and secular movement spaces.
Religious Nationalism
Across the globe, movements are fusing religious identity with national belonging to justify exclusion and authoritarian power. Shoshana examines how religious nationalism operates, including Christian nationalism in the United States, how it targets marginalized communities, and how people of faith and people of conscience can resist it together.
Racialized Capitalism
Racism and capitalism did not develop separately, and they cannot be dismantled separately. These sessions trace how economic systems have relied on racial hierarchy, from slavery and colonialism to today’s labor markets and housing, and help participants connect the dots between their daily experiences and the structures that shape them.
Curriculum Design
Good political education doesn’t end when the workshop does. Rooted Pathways designs curricula that organizations can carry forward on their own, from single-session modules to multi-session courses. Drawing on popular education, Paulo Freire’s see, analyze, act framework, and years of building trainings for movement organizations and classrooms, each curriculum is shaped around your community’s history, questions, and goals, with facilitator guides and tools your team can use long after we’ve worked together.
Social Work
As a licensed social worker, Shoshana brings a trauma-informed, healing-centered lens to every space she holds. Rooted Pathways offers consultation for organizations navigating harm, burnout, and internal conflict, along with support in building cultures of care, sustainable practices for staff, and approaches to community needs that treat people as whole human beings rather than cases to be managed.
HOW WE WORK
